Mr Arthur Keith Willis

Arthur Keith Willis, surgeon, born 4 April 1850 at Rottingdean in Sussex, son of the Rev Thomas Willis, and baptised there 17 November 1850. Living with his family in 1851 and 1861, and then residing at Gascony House, 44 West End Lane, Hampstead in London in 1881; Littlehampton in Sussex in 1891, and Bushey in Hertfordshire in 1901. Died 30 November 1909 at Watford, leaving £5851 17s. 9d.

Matriculated at Oxford 25 January 1873, and then B.A. in 1877 and M.A. in 1881. Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians 1885; Member of the Royal College of Surgeons 1881 (St. George); Fellow of the Medical Society. It appears that he bought land in New Zealand at the same place as his brother William Jarvis Willis, but never moved there.

Married on 21 June 1877 at Cowley in Oxford to Mary Dormer Potter. She was born about 1851 at Felstead in Essex, and died 17 September 1936. Estate £5804 11s. 5d.

  1. Agnes Mary Willis, born and died in 1878 in London.

  2. John Keith Willis, medical practitioner, of 'Flagstones', Cranleigh in Surrey. Born 17 July 1878, and educated at St. Paul's School 1891 - 1898, Queens' College, Cambridge (where he took a double first) and St. Barts.

  3. George Morton Willis, born 20 October 1880. Educated at St. Paul's School, and then Queen's College, Oxford.

  4. Dorothy Courteney Willis, born 8 July 1882 and baptised 30 July 1882 at St Augustine, Paddington.

  5. Rose Dormer Willis, born 1 October 1884 at Gascony House, West End, and baptised 24 October 1884 at St Augustine, Paddington, and died unmarried in 1973 at Lewes in Sussex.

  6. Stella Mary Willis, born 17 May 1887, baptised at St Augustine, Paddington the same day, and died unmarried in 1973 in Kent.
