William Curtis Claimed By Death
William Curtis, one of the oldest residents of Sacramento County, who
located here in the Fall of 1852, died yesterday at his residence near this
city. Mr. Curtis was a native of Watertown, Massachusetts, born in August
1831. He came to California by the Nicaraugua [sic] route and located in
Sacramento County. After spending a few months in the mines he engaged in
agricultural pursuits and owned a fine farm adjoining Oak Park. Politically
Mr. Curtis was a Republican. He was twice elected to the office of
Supervisor, serving one term as Chairman of the Board. The wife of Mr.
Curtis died a little more than a year ago. Two children survive. They are
Mrs. George H. Cutter and Edna Curtis.

CURTIS--At his residence, near Oak Park, January 27, 1907, William Curtis,
husband of the late Susie Curtis, father of Mrs. Carrie M. Cutter and Miss
Edna Curtis, a native of Massachusetts, aged 75 years, 5 months and 16 days.
Friends can call Tuesday morning, January 29th, from 10 to 12 a.m. Funeral
private. Interment City Cemetery.
