W.A. CURTIS, HEAD OF PRODUCE HOUSE, DEAD

Death Claims Wealthy Man of City After Lengthy Illness; Funeral To Be Held To-Morrow

W.A. Curtis, a member of the firm of Wood-Curtis Company, a pioneer produce dealer of Sacramento, and one of the city's wealthy men, died last night, following an illness of some months. An affliction of the heart was the direct cause of the death. Death came at the Curtis residence, 2030 M Street, which had just been remodeled and greatly enlarged. The funeral will be held Tuesday, and arrangements for it are being made. Friends are invited to the residence between the hours of 3 and 5 o'clock this afternoon. Curtis owned extensive land interests in the Sacramento Valley and his firm, under his direction, has been one of the most extensive growers of potatoes in California. Curtis took an interest in farming operations and developed some high class varieties of field produce. In the city life of Sacramento, Curtis had an active part until illness restricted his work. He was in business until a year or two ago, at his desk daily. In addition to being with the produce company, he was a director of the California National Bank of this city. He was a Mason and a member of the local Knights Templar. A widow, two daughters and a son survive Curtis. The daughters are Isabelle Hechtman and Miss Neva Curtis, and the son, William Curtis. Curtis was born in Boston, and came from that city to Sacramento. The funeral will be held to-morrow at 2:30 o'clock from the home and will be private. The honorary pall-bearers will be George W. Peltier, W.E. Gerber, Henry Heilbron, D.A. Lindley, Frederick Kiesel and Philip Johnson. The Kiesel vault in East Lawn Cemetery will be the temporary resting place of the remains. Later a vault will be built and the body will be placed there.
And on the same page, a death notice.
