DEATH OF REV. HUNTLEY CURTOIS

Family's Long Association With Branston

The death has taken place at his home, Cotman Lodge, Norwich, of the Rev Huntley Curtois, elder bnrother of the late Rev. Algernon Curtois, of Lincoln, who died in September, 1933.

The Rev. Huntley Curtois, whose father was at one time rector of Branston, was a widower, and he leaves no children. Of his brothers and sisters there survive him Miss Edith Curtois, who lived with him at Norwich, and Miss Ella Curtois, the celebrated sculptress, who lives in Paris.

The Curtois family had an unbroken association with the parish of Branston from 1680 to 1891, when the Rev Peregrine Curtois, uncle of the Rev Huntley Curtois, died. In all, seven members of the family had been rectors of Branston.

A graduate at Christ's College, Cambridge, and a Cambridge Classical Scholar in 1884, Mr Huntley Curtois was ordained deacon in 1885 and priest in 1886 in the Southwell diocese. From 1885 to 1887 he was curate of Carlton-in-the Willows, Notts., of Plumtree from 1887 to 1891 and from that year until 1897 he was minister of Fen Drayton. He held the living of Croxton, Thetford, Norfolk, from 1897 to 1927.
