Rev Algernon Curtois
Death while on holiday at Maidstone
Distinguished family

The Rev Algernon Curtois of Lincoln has died while on holiday at Maidstone. Deceased, who was 66, was a member of a family which has been connected with the village of Branston for more than 200 years. 7 members of the family have been rectors of the parish, and the connection was unbroken from 1680 to 1891 when the Rev Peregrine Curtois, uncle of the Rev Algernon Curtois, died.

Mr Curtois, who was educated at Worcester College, Oxford, was ordained in 1894, and became a licensed priest in the Lincoln Diocese in 1901. He was curate of St. Mary's Church Lincoln from 1893-96, and of St Swithins Church from 1896 to 1901. He preached at Branston Church on 6 August this year.

He was keenly interested in local history and antiquities and was a member of the Lincoln Historical Association. He leaves two sisters and a brother; Miss Edith Curtois of London, Miss Ella Curtois of Paris, and the Rev Huntley Curtois of Norwich.

The funeral is arranged to take place at Branston today.
