From the Lincoln Leader, 12/1/1924
The late Mr Arthur Curtois - The older people of Branston were greatly grieved on hearing of the death of Mr Arthur Curtois, the youngest of the six sons of the last of its six Curtois rectors. Born at Leasingham, May 20 1852, he lived at Branston rectory while his father was rector from 1869-1891. After his fathers death he married Edith, third daughter of the late Mr Thomas Proctor of Gaddesden Hoo, Herts, January 13, 1892, at Great Berhamstead Church, and the family lived in Lincoln till 1909, six children being born, of whom four survive. In 1909 they moved to Bedford, where Mr Curtois passed peacefully away on Friday of last week. The funeral took place at Branston. The service was choral, Psalm 90, and the hymns 'Jesu, lover of my soul' and 'I heard the voice of Jesus say' being sung in the church, and 'Abide with me' at the graveside. The officiating clergy were the rector (Rev JRR Pells) and the Rev Algernon Curtois of Lincoln (cousin). The mourners were Mrs Curtois and her brother, Mr J Proctor of London; Lieut. John RW Curtois MC RFA (son); Barbera and Queenie (daughters); Emily and Beryl Curtois of London (sister and niece); Florence Curtois of Washingborough (cousin), and the nurse. At the same hour a memorial service was held at St Andrews, Bedford, where Mr Curtois was at one time churchwarden. Beautiful floral tributes came from various relatives and friends.
